My Journey Into Psychology
My journey into psychology began with a deep curiosity about the human condition. After college, my work in the arts and a passion for understanding the human mind led me to earn a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a focus on art therapy. To deepen my understanding of the mind-body-spirit connection, I pursued a PhD in Health Psychology and became a licensed clinical psychologist.
I have worked in diverse clinical settings, including college counseling centers, chronic pain clinics, chemical dependency programs, inpatient hospitals, and outpatient mental health agencies. My expertise in eating disorders was honed at both residential and intensive outpatient centers.
I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Art Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. These approaches allow me to integrate evidence-based practices into a flexible, personalized approach that supports meaningful change.
With over a decade of experience in private practice, I have helped many individuals facing challenges related to anxiety, personal growth, life and career transitions, and behavioral health issues. Additionally, I provide psychological services for Division I athletes at the University of San Diego. Completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training further informs my integrative approach, combining art, yoga, and psychology to create a holistic and enriching experience.
I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey.
